QEMS started from humble beginnings in April of 1971. Our founders, Ed Oechslin and Drew Blackwell, both worked together at GE Apparatus on Crittenden Drive honing their skills in leadership and broadening their depth of knowledge of the electrical apparatus repair industry. When the time came to chart their own course, Ed procured a small business loan and located a space for rent from his cousin George and the company has been a Lyndon, KY fixture ever since.
Sons, daughters, in-laws, cousins, and a core crew dating back 30+ years have worked in the same building that stands today (a few additions have been made for space). Ed’s goal was always simple: keep customers happy, take care of the employees, and pay the bills. Nearing 55 years in business, the company has proven to grow far beyond his vision.
Ed, who was still working every day, passed away in October of 2024 at the age of 90. The crew and business have continued similarly to how he started: taking care of customers, taking care of the employees, and paying the bills.
Our new leadership completed the purchase of QEMS at the end of January 2025. Aside from a few digital advances, the owners have kept Ed’s model consistent providing successful services with honest customer interactions. We look forward to another 30+ years serving new and longstanding customers with distinction.
Thank you for choosing Quality Electric Motor Service.
